Goods keep moving after they land. The information that travels with them on the road should move just as easily. The eCMR replaces paper documents with digital information that is easier to access and share.

Traditionally, cargo information travels on paper documents that are checked and exchanged along the way. The eCMR, or electronic consignment note, was tested on a road route between Brussels Airport and Liège Airport. The pilot brought together ground handler Swissport, transporter Wallenborn, Hainan Airlines and software provider Pionira.

By replacing paperwork with digital information, documents are easier to access and verify, while reducing administrative work and the risk of errors. During the pilot, customs and police also successfully carried out digital checks. The result is a smoother flow of goods, with less paperwork, faster access to information and fewer delays along the way.
