Road Rush Barometer
Modal shift
Nobody wants to find out about roadworks when they are already on the road. The RoadRush Barometer gives travellers a heads-up and nudges them towards a more sustainable alternative before they set off.
Developed by Brussels Airport with mobility research specialist Transport & Mobility Leuven, the RoadRush Barometer combines roadwork data, traffic conditions and travel patterns to predict where delays are likely.
Its goal is not to be just another navigation app, but to use likely traffic disruption warnings to help car users rethink their trip. If roadworks make driving slower or less predictable, the tool offers clear advice: leave in time or consider public transport. In that way, information becomes a small nudge towards more sustainable travel.
