Automated vehicle on tarmac

Brussels Airport Company has initiated a three-month pilot project to test an autonomous, electric shuttle on its tarmac in November 2024. This innovative proof of concept aims to study the feasibility of this means of transportation in an airport context, making it more efficient, eco-friendly, and passenger-friendly.

Innovative technologie

After months of tests, the self-driving vehicle, equipped with advanced sensors and cameras, started transporting airport staff along a designated route. By utilising cutting-edge technology, the shuttle will navigate the complex airport environment safely and efficiently, reducing reliance on traditional transportation methods.

This pilot project will provide valuable insights into the feasibility and benefits of autonomous vehicles in airport operations. By analysing data collected during the trial period, Stargate aims to identify potential challenges and develop strategies to optimise the future application of this technology in the airport environment.
