Stargate introduces new Hydrogen Catalogue for airports

30.10.2026

What does it take to bring hydrogen to an airport? Stargate’s new Hydrogen Catalogue brings together real-world examples and practical insights to help airports explore their options and plan their next steps.

While hydrogen adoption is still at an early stage, airports are already testing hydrogen-powered ground support equipment, refuelling solutions and other applications that could help decarbonise airport operations.

The catalogue draws on these experiences to guide readers through three stages of hydrogen adoption: Research & Support, Testing & Development and Deployment. Examples highlight the opportunities and challenges at each stage, alongside Technology Readiness Levels and indicative investment ranges. Among the examples is a Stargate project at Brussels Airport, which hosted a temporary mobile hydrogen refuelling station for eight weeks in 2024.

The Hydrogen Catalogue was coordinated by To70, with support from Brussels Airport Company, Hamburg Airport and ACI Europe.
